Sam Crawford is Main Street Birmingham’s director of business growth. Sam oversees the organization’s technical assistance programs and has been the architect of The Urban Food Project, an initiative to develop jobs and businesses that address the lack of access to healthy foods in Birmingham “food deserts.”

Favorite local musician: Kenneth Williams. “I saw him for the first time in Avondale Park at an Art in the Park event. I thought it was great that Birmingham has such good local talent.”

Other community work:  Jones Valley Urban Farm

Family:  Married with four kids. Only son is an all-conference cornerback at Wooster College in Ohio and will be an exchange student in New Zealand during the winter semester 2012.
