From Nashville to Austin, Portland to Sarasota, the arts have proven to be a strong economic development engine in many of the country’s most vibrant cities.

Main Street Birmingham is working with artists to foster a community of creativity anchored in Avondale, Woodlawn and East Lake.

East End Arts is an arts incubation program focused on providing business assistance to creative professionals who seek to make a living through their craft. Main Street Birmingham is opening 55th Place Arts, a redeveloped block of storefronts in Woodlawn that will be available for leasing as studio, gallery or office space. Main Street Birmingham also supports the arts through marketing events in the area, including the Third Friday events in Forest Park / South Avondale and the annual Avondale Holiday Craft Bazaar.
